Thodoris Abazis

Composer, Director
He was born in Athens. He studied composition and orchestral conducting at the Music Academy of Utrecht (1989/93, Scholarship from the Alexander S. Onassis Foundation). He worked with the Utrecht Theatre Academy on music theatre productions and seminars (1989/93) and deepened his knowledge of composition with professor Dimitris Terzakis (Music Academy of Bern, 1993/95). As a deputy artistic director of the National Theatre, he was artistic director of the theatres in Patras (2012/15) and Kavala (2010/12) while he was cashier, secretary general and vice-president of the Hellenic Centre of the International Theatre Institute of Unesco (2004/2010). He teaches stage composition at the Drama School of the National Theatre and has taught acting and improvisation at the Drama School of the Theatre of Patras and the Drama School of the Athens Conservatory (2006/14). His works have been performed in many European cities and in the USA by various musical ensembles, and he has collaborated with choreographers, directors, poets and visual artists.
