He was born in Cyprus in 1952. He studied at the Academia di Belle Arti di Firenze and at the La Scala Theatre Academy School of Stage Design on a scholarship from the Italian state. He has worked in opera and ballet productions with major directors and set designers, such as Luka Ronkoni, Franco Zeffilelli and Damiano Damiani. He has designed sets for performances -specializing on ancient drama- for the Epidaurus Festival, the National Theater of Greece, the National Theater of Northern Greece, the Athens Concert Hall, the Badminton Theater Athens, the Cyprus Theater Organisation and various municipal regional theaters (DIPETHE). He has also designed sets and costumes for film productions. He has designed costumes for Gianni Versace, for the production of the ballet Dionysos, and for Maurice Béjart at La Scala (1984). He worked with Stamatis Kraounakis in the music production Karagiozis, and directed the productions The Sea (with the band Tiger Lilies) and 1000+1 cities (with Nena Venetsanou). He collaborated with renowned Greek and Cypriot directors, such as: Cacoyannis, Gabrielides, Chronopoulos, Charalambous, Livathinos, Karakatsanis, etc. In 2012 he was appointed director and artistic director of the taking over ceremony of the European Council Presidency by Cyprus, presenting the work Venus [Afroditi]. He has staged exhibitions of historical, political and educational nature. He designed the interior of the Cyprus pavilion at the Seville Universal Exposition (Expo '92). He participated in the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space in 1991 and 2011. He worked with the GNO twice: as curator of costumes designed by Michael Cacoyannis for the production of the opera La traviata (1981/82) and as set and costume designer for the opera Ernani (1994/95). // Last update of the biography: November 2018 - The list of the productions below is updated.
