Vassilis Anastasiou
Director
He was born in 1958 in Achladi, Fthiotida. He studied philosophy, theatre, communication and cultural management in Athens and Paris. He graduated with honors from the directing department of the Drama School in Paris. He has worked with all the state theatres of Greece, as well as those of the United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Italy and Cyprus. He has directed and designed the sets for more than 70 plays and 38 operas in Greece and in Europe. He has also translated more than 40 plays and essays. Since 1996 he has taught drama and opera in universities and institutions. From 2001 to 2004 he was director of the Lyric and Heptanesian Festival of Corfu. From 2006 to 2008 he was director of the Festival of the Aegean and for three years of the Mediaeval and Byzantine Festival of Kastoria (2011-2014). Since 2006 he has been working as a professor of lyric drama at the Arturo Toscanini State Music Conservatory, while he is an assistant professor at the Bologna International Opera Academy. Moreover, he was the artistic director of the Franco-Greek institution "Petit Opera du Monde". He collaborated with the Greek National Opera as director in the production L’elisir d’amore (1996 and 2002).
