Set Designer
He was born in Ravenna in 1960. He studied architecture at the University of Florence, graduating in 1986. In 1983, and for more than 10 years, he collaborated with set designer Pier Luigi Pizzi in productions for major operas and festivals in Europe (La Scala Milan, Phoenix Theater Venice, Musical May Florence, Municipal Theater Bologna, Bastille Opera House, Aix-en-Provence Festival, Monte Carlo Opera, Opera Nancy, Vienna State Opera, Festival of Ravenna, etc.). In 1984 he began working with choreographer Micha van Hoecke, as set and costume designer. From 1988 to date he has designed sets for numerous performances in Italian stages, including: Experimental Opera Theater Spoleto (Simon Boccanegra), Municipal Theater Florence (Prokofiev’s Cinderella), Theater Alighieri Ravenna, Festival of Ravenna, Theater Verdi Pisa (Orfeo by Monteverdi, Carmina Burana choreographed by Micha van Hoecke), Phoenix Theater Venice (Cinderella/La Cenerendola by Rossini), etc. He has collaborated with conductor Riccardo Muti, set designer Maurizio Balò and, since 2008 works with choreographer Michela Minguzzi. In 2009 he directed and produced for the first time a short film, Teodorico, the Story and Legend [Teodorico, la storia e la leggenda]. In addition, he works as an architect, interior designer and 3D graphic artist. He worked with the GNO as set designer for the production of the opera La Gioconda (2004/5).
