Lighting Designer
Pioneer of the art of lighting in Greece, she has designed the lighting for more than 500 performances receiving acclaiming reviews and awards. Her participation in the Olympic Games – Athens 2004 as a lighting designer of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies has been a unique moment in her career. For the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games – Athens 2004 she received the international EMMY award (Outstanding Lighting, first Greek with this distinction). With her team they have designed several architectural lighting projects worldwide – the lighting of the Acropolis was one of the most recent ones. They have been awarded with such international awards as Ultimate Darc Award-2020, LIT Best Lighting-2021 (Acropolis), LIT 2021 (façade-lighting Athens International Airport), ΜUSE Platinum, Gold, Silver. Her teaching offer and experience counts 30 years. She began teaching stage lighting at the New York University in 1990 and taught 15 years (2005-2019) theatre lighting design at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (School of Drama), introducing for the first time the teaching of lighting in the Greek University. She has collaborated with the GNO for such productions as Orfeo ed Euridice, Il prigioniero, La vida breve, Remember Those Years...!, The Love Bacchilus [To mikrovio tou erota], Carmen, Nabucco and Norma. // Last update of the biography: June 2022.
