Katerina Dima

Principal Dancer of the GNO Ballet
She was born in Athens. She began her ballet lessons with Leonidas de Pian at the Rallou Manou Professional Dance School. She continued her studies with a scholarship at the National School of Dance in Sofia, where she worked with Bulgarian and Russian teachers such as Naima Valeeva Baltatseva and Vera Toseva from the Agrippina Vaganova Ballet Academy. She danced as a Soloist at the Bonn Opera and the Frankfurt Opera in works from the classical and neoclassical repertoire (choreographies by George Balanchine, Alfonso Catá, Kent Stowell, Lotar Höfgen, etc.). From 1976 to 1998 as a Principal Dancer of the Greek National Opera she danced numerous works by Greek and foreign choreographers such as Peter van Dyk, Serge Keuten, Yannis Metsis, Isidoros Sideris, Haris Mantafounis, Dora Tsatsou. She also took part in performances by contemporary dance groups (Theatrokinisi by Isidoros Sideris, Airesis by Yannis Bagourdis, Contemporary Dance Company by Haris Mantafounis). In 1983, she interpreted the leading role in the first complete performance of the ballet Giselle at the Greek National Opera, choreographed by Marius Petipa (version by Leonid Lavrovsky) and in the revival by Kalina Bogoeva. // Last update of the biography: May 2022.
