She was born in Algiers to a family of French-Italian descent on 7/2/1934. She began taking singing lessons at the Algiers Conservatoire (Conservatoire d' Alger) and completed her studies at the Paris Conservatoire (Conservatoire de Paris) with Jean Gireaudeau, Louis Noguéra and Charles Panzéra. In 1956 she made her first appearance in Metz, France as Suzelle in Camille Erlanger's opera The Polish Jew (Le Juif Polonais). Since then she has started a brilliant career in the biggest theatres of France, including the Paris Opéra-Comique , singing mainly lyrical parts of the french romantic repertoire such as: Οlympia (Les contes d'Hoffmann), Philine (Mignon), Μichaela (Carmen), Leïla (Les pêcheurs de perles), Lakme (Lakme). However, she also sang demanding roles of a contemporary repertoire , such as in the operas Die Teufel von Loudun by Penderecki, The Mines of Sulphur by Bennett, Le chevalier de neige by Georges Delerue etc. In 1959 she made her first appearance at the Paris Opera as Violetta (La traviata). She also appeared there as Gilda (Rigoletto), Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Xenia (Boris Godunov), Marguerite (Faust), Juliette (Roméo et Juliette), Μanon (Manon) and Thaïs (Thaïs). She was giving regular recitals where she often sang songs by Chausson and Duparc. She was married to French baritone Julien Haas and they taught singing together at the Strasbourg Conservatoire (Conservatoire de Strasbourg). In the Greek National Opera she appeared as Manon Lescaut in the opera of the same name (season 1964-65) and as Violetta Valéry in La traviata (season 1965-66). // Last update of the biography: December 2020 – The list of the productions below is complete.
