She was born in Naples, where she studied architecture. In 1973 she started designing costumes for theatrical works by Eduardo De Filippo, directed by Franco Zeffirelli (Old Vic, London Lyric Theatre, the Royal Danish Theatre of Copenhagen, Oslo National Theatre). She continues collaborating with Zeffirelli until today, in theatre, cinema and opera productions. Since 1974 she has been designing stage sets and costumes for theatre productions of De Filppo (Rome, Naples, Florence), as well as television productions by him, Scarpetta and Pirandello. She collaborated with distinguished Italian directors, such as Armando Puglese, Carlo Cecchi, Enrico Maria Salerno and Mario Monicelli. She designed costumes for productions by foreign directors such as Kirsten Sørlie,Bentein Baardson, Mike Ockrent etc. She created ballet costumes in la Scala di Milano, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Garnier theatre in Monte Carlo, the Bolshoi theatre, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Rome National Theatre, the Rome Opera. She created stage sets and costumes for lyric productions at the New York Metropolitan Opera (1998), the Rome Opera (2008), the Teatro Verdi in Salerno and the Teatro di Maggio Fiorentino. Various productions of the opera Pagliacci, directed by Zeffirelli, were presented in England (Opera North), Rome, Los Angeles, Washington, Covent Garden (2003), Athens (2005, Herodeion, Athens Festival), Moscow (2007) and Genoa (Teatro Carlo Felice). She had been nominated for the Oliver Award for best costume design for the work Right You Are (If You Think So) [Così è, se vi pare] by Luigi Pirandello, directed by Zeffirelli, with Joan Plowright (Windham Theatre).With the Greek National Opera she collaborated one time, in the production of the ballet [Abstr'acte], music by Giorgos Kouroupos (Odeon of Herodes Atticus,1977/78). // Last update of the biography: May 2019 - The list of the productions below is continually updated.
