Sergios Kalabakos

Soloist, Bass
Born in Chalkis, Greece. He studied at the Athens Conservatoire and continued his studies in Italy, at the Conservatory Giovanni Battista Martini, Bologna. He appeared in opera houses in Europe, where he sang, inter alia, in the following operas: Boris Godunov, Rigoletto, Norma, Aida, Nabucco, Lucia di Lammermoor, The Barber of Seville [Il barbiere di Siviglia] and Manon Lescaut. In 1982 he participated in a tour in Austria, where he sang the role of Rocco in the opera Fidelio. He has appeared in European festivals (Athens, Italy, England etc.). He worked with the GNO during the period from 1984 to 1998, when he appeared in seven operas in more than 10 productions and/or revivals. He sang starring and bass roles in the operas Giulio Cesare in Egitto (as Tolomeo), Boris Godunov (as Barlaam), Les contes d'Hoffmann (as Lindorf, Coppélius, Miracle and Dapertutto), Don Giovanni (as Commendatore), L'Elisir d'amore (as Dr Dulcamara), Il barbiere di Siviglia (as Don Basilio) and Adriana Lecouvreur (as Prince de Bouillon). // Last update of the biography: December 2021 - The list of the productions below is continually updated.
