She was born in Moscow. She studied at the Russian Academy of Theater Arts in Moscow under Tatiana Sukhanova and Leila Dzhparadze and continued her education in Vienna, with the singing professor Ingeborg Wamser (1996). She won an award at the All-Russian competition for young opera singers “I. S. Bach” (1994), she was awarded a diploma at the International Competition in Rome (1997) and she won a scholarship to Bayreuth by the International Association of the Wagner Societies (1998). In 2001 she was declared “Singer of the Year” by the Theatre Company of Saint Petersburg. Since 1998 she is a member of the Mariinsky Theatre of Saint Petersburg, where she collaborates closely with the conductor Valery Gergiev. In this theater she sang leading roles in Russian operas such as: Renata [The Fiery Angel, Prokofiev] Fevronia [The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh, Rimsky-Korsakov], Lisa [Queen of Spades], Voyslava [Mlada, Rimsky-Korsakov]. She also sings leading dramatic soprano roles such as: Salome [Salome], Sieglinde [The Valkyrie/Die Walküre], Chrysothemis [Elektra], Lady Macbeth [Macbeth], Abigaille [Nabucco] and Senta [The flying Dutchman/Der fliegende Holländer]. Her repertoire also includes the roles of Elvira and Donna Anna [Don Giovanni], Norma [Norma], Elizabeth [Tannhäuser]. She has performed in major opera houses internationally, such as: Washington National Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Minnesota Opera, Leipzig Opera, New York’s Metropolitan Opera, London’s Royal Opera House, Teatro Massimo (Palermo), German Opera on the Rhine, Graz Opera. She has also sung in Tel Aviv, Beijing, Seoul, Mikkeli (Finland), Tokyo, Baden-Baden, Birmingham, Warsaw, Amsterdam, Cardiff, Kazan. She has collaborated with many current leading conductors, opera singers and directors.
