Nikos Kokkalis

He studied at the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1984-89, painting workshops of Dimitris Kontos and Vangelis Dimitreas), while between 1993 and 1995 he was a postgraduate student of the Greek State Scholarships Foundation under the supervision of professor Nikos Kessanlis. In 2006 together with Marilena Koskina he created the group OKKO, with the aim of raising awareness among citizens through art, while in 2016 he completed his PhD at the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University (supervised by Marianne Strapatsakis), where since 2017 he is a member of the teaching staff. He has held eight individual exhibitions, thirty group exhibitions and completed twenty five scenographies. His work ranges between installations and performative arts, while his research focuses on the poetic recording of the trace of the human existence in a specific space at a given moment, transforming familiar interior spaces into unfamiliar ones, creating extreme balances within them.// Last update of the biography: October 2022 - The list of the productions below is complete.
