Maria Kroussou
Dancer
She has been practicing classical ballet from the age of three, taught by her mother Sally Adam-Kroussou. She is a graduate of the Niki Kontaxaki Higher Professional and Amateur School of Dance and holder of dancer and teacher diplomas after passing the examinations at the Royal Academy of Dance in London. She took part in the 7th International Dance Competition in Moscow’s Bolshoi and in the Wiltz Festival Luxembourg. She has danced in productions at the Athens Concert Hall and the Oden of Herodes Atticus. She taught at the Sally Adam-Kroussou School for eleven consecutive years, while since 2006 she runs her own ballet school. She has also worked as a weathercaster with Greek television channel STAR. She was a soloist with the GNO Ballet Studio for six years. During 1995-1999 she appeared in GNO productions of the ballets Don Quixote (de Pian/Minkus), Cinderella [La Cenerentola] (Vinogradov/Prokofiev), Zorba (Massine/Theodorakis), Paquita, The corsair [Le corsaire], Pinnochio (Armitage/Melozzi), The temple dancer [La bayadère] (Pitipa/Minkus), as well as at the Ballet Nights during the seasons 1996/97 and 1997/98 and the ballet segments in Bastien and Bastienne [Bastien und Bastienne] and Kiss me Kate.
