She was born in Munich on 24/09/1939. She began studying singing in her homeland under Annelies Kupper and continued with Giuseppe Pais. She made her debut in 1956 at the State Theater of Hague (Westphalia) in the role of Aida from the same-named opera. In 1959 she was hired by the Augsburg Theaer and from 1962-64 worked for the Opera of Cologne and consecutively with the Stuttgart Opera (1963-77). During the same period she was invited to sing at some of the most important operas of Germany, Italy as well as in Venice, Paris, Marseilles, Zurich, the U.S.A (Metropolitan Opera of New York, San Fransisco. Boston, Chicago Opera, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, New Orleans), Canada (Toronto, Vancouver) the Colon Theater of Buenos Aires and Tokyo. Highlights in her career include leading, dramatic soprano roles from the operas Macbeth, Nabucco, Un ballo in maschera, La forza del destino, Tosca, Norma, Rustic Chivalry [Cavalleria Rusticana], Don Giovanni, Fidelio, The Flying Dutchman [Der fliegende Holländer], Tannhauser, Die Walkure, Siegfried etc. She sang with success roles from many operas by Richard Strauss: Salome, Der Rosenkavalier, Die Frau ohne Schatten, Elektra, Ariadne auf Naxos. She was most active in giving concert hall performances as well as in radio broadcasting . She died on 28/03/1997 in Rottach-Egern. She collaborated once with the Greek National Opera (GNO) when she sang the leading role in the opera Turandot which was presented at the Herodion (1968/69) during the Athens Festival.
