Christina Makridou

Dancer
She was born in Athens. She studied at the Niki Kontaxaki Higher Amateur and Professional School of Dance, obtaining a dancer and classical and modern dance teacher diploma, as well as at the Royal Dance Academy of London. She also studied classical ballet under Alain Astié and attended dance seminars by Kalina Bogoeva in Bulgaria and modern dance classes under Deborah Saxon. During the period 1999–2001 she collaborated with Niki Kontaxaki’s Dance Group in the following works: Les sylphides, Don Quixote (Variation), Coppélia and Esmeralda. In 2002 she was awarded the first prize for classical ballet at the Greek Dance Festival Competition. She joined the GNO ballet as a soloist in 2003. She has danced in several ballets, including: The nutcracker (Zanella/Tchaikovsky), Romeo and Juliet (Zanella/Prokofiev), Chopin in love (Boken/Chopin), Journey to eternity [Taxidi stin aioniotita] (Zanella/Karaindrou), Swan lake (Zanella/Tchaikovsky), etc. In addition, she has danced in the ballet segments in operas, such as Marathon-Salamis (2004/05), etc.
