
Dimitris Maramis
Composer, Librettist
He studied piano and composition at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (Great Britain) and the Attiko Conservatory. He has composed the opera Eleftherios Venizelos (commissioned by the Heraklion Cultural Centre, 2023), the folk opera Captain Michalis (commissioned by the Region of Crete, 2021), and the contemporary Greek musicals The Haunted (commissioned by the Athens Concert Hall, 2019) and Erotocritus (commissioned by the Greek National Opera for the Alternative Stage, 2017). He has composed the symphonic odes: Namata & Iamata (commissioned by the Municipality of Larissa, 2022), the popular oratorio Palingenesia (The Revolution in Roumeli in 1821, commissioned by the Region of Central Greece, 2021), and more. He has collaborated with all Greek cultural organisations and has presented his works abroad: USA, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg. He has released seven personal albums, has written music for forty-three theatre performances, as well as for films and television. He has also been the artistic director of “To Lalon Hydor” Delphi Festival since 2018. // Last update of the biography: April 2023.
