Ivan Momirov

He was born in Sofia, Bulgaria on 23/12/1975. His father was a soccer referee and an opera lover. He was acquainted with music from a young age, at the Varna Opera. He studied languages in the same city. In 1997 he sang the roles of Prince Vladimir [Prince Igor] at the Plovdiv Opera and the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Alfredo [La traviata] in Russia, Cavaradossi [Tosca] in Spain and Ismail [Nabucco] at the Sofia Opera. Don Carlo followed at the same venue in 1998. In 2000 he first appeared at the Monte Carlo Opera as des Grieux [Manon Lescaut]. His international career began in 1999. He has since sung roles in the operas Prince Igor in Berlin and Santander, Manon under conductor Marc Minkowski at Monte Carlo, Jérusalem, Giovanna d’Arco at Genova, Un ballo in maschera at London’s Royal Opera, Tosca, Carmen and Werther at Salerno, Norma at Nice, France e.a.. His recordings include Verdi’s Jérusalem. He sang the role of Ismail in Nabucco at the Greek National Opera during the 2006/2007 period.
