Vicki Mortimer

Set and Costume designer
British designer, she studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, London. She has designed numerous productions for Katie Mitchell; costumes for Handel’s Orest (Dutch National Opera) and designs for Nono’s Al gran sole carico d’amore (Berlin State Opera, Salzburg Festival), Feldman’s Neither (Berlin State Opera), Wigglesworth’s The Winter’s Tale, After Dido and Joanna Lee’s The Way Back Home (ENO), St Matthew Passion (Glyndebourne) and MacMillan’s The Sacrifice, Jenůfa, Káťa Kabanová and Jephtha (Welsh National Opera). Her other opera designs include, for Nicholas Hytner, Così fan tutte (Glyndebourne), and for David McVicar Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Die Entführung aus dem Serail Glyndebourne) and Wozzeck (Lyric Opera of Chicago). Mortimer has also worked for National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal Court Theatre, London, as well as for Broadway. She is a member of the Linbury Prize Committee and her many awards include the 2016 International Opera Award. // Last update: February 2019
