Rena (Irini) Nomikou
Soloist, Soprano
She studied at the Athens Conservatory under Mireille Flery (diploma 1969). She continued her studies at the Music Academy of Vienna as a fellow of the "Maria Callas" Foundation, taught by professors such as Anton Dermota, Josef Witt and Svanhvit Egilsdottir (diploma 1974). On a State Scholarship Foundation stipend, she studied the Italian repertoire in Milan. She collaborated with the Vienna Chamber Opera and the Austrian radio (ORF). She sang in concerts in central Europe (Linz, Graz, Munich) and in Italy (Milan, Pavia, etc). She is also a graduate of the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Athens (1971). She collaborate with the GNO during the years 1976-1992 in 18 productions and/or revivals of twelve lyric works, interpreting the following roles: Gilda [Rigoletto], Liza [The Sleepwalker/La sonnambula], Adele [The Bat/Die Fledermaus], Kiki [The Godson/O vaftistikos], Handa [House of the Three Girls/Das Dreimäderlhaus], Musetta [La bohème], Lottie (Chicago “good time girl") [Show Boat], Shepherdess [The Child and the Spells/L'enfant et les sortilèges], Cupid [The Coronation of Poppea/L’ incoronazione di Poppea], Queen of the Night [The Magic Flute/Die Ζauberflöte], Rosina [The Barber of Seville/Il barbiere di Siviglia], Valencienne [The Merry Widow/Die lustige Witwe].
