He was born in Florina, Greece in 1943. He studied voice under Josef Metternich at the Musikhochschule Cologne and musicology at the University of Bonn. He appeared on the German radio and television, as well as on radio stations in Austria and Brazil. In 1967 he joined the German Opera on the Rhine. Between 1970 and 1972, he won prizes in international singing competitions in Vienna, 's-Hertogenbosch (Netherlands) and Barcelona. Following his permanent collaboration with the Volksoper Wien and the Bavarian State Opera, he worked with major opera companies and orchestras in Europe, USA and Canada. In 1980 he was named Bayerischer Kammersänger (court singer of Bavaria), for his performances in at least 25 productions of the Bavarian State Opera (Munich). Since 1989, he is a professor with the Volkwang Hochschule Essen, and since 1999 with the University of Macedonia. He has also taught in seminars in Greece, Germany and Italy. During his collaboration with the GNO, he sang leading tenor roles in 16 operas and one operetta (1975-2000). He has participated in some 40 productions and/or revivals of operas, such as: Il barbiere di Siviglia, Die Fledermaus, L'elisir d'amore, Die Zauberflöte, Falstaff, Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Così fan tutte, Don Pasquale, Don Giovanni, Pagliacci, Salome (Odeon of Herodes Atticus, 1980), etc. He participated in GNO premiers of Cinderella (La cenerentola, 1976/77), L 'Italiana in Algeri (1977/78), Giulio Cesare] (1984/85), Albert Herring (1984/85) and La clemenza di Tito] (1985/86). // Last update of the biography: November 2015.
