Michalis Polatov(Apostolatos)

Fashion Designer, Set Designer, Costume Designer
He was born in 1948 to Italo-Russian parents. He studied film direction in Rome, but made a name for himself by taking a career in the fashion industry. He started out in Greece in 1975, when he opened his first boutique. His recognition soon traveled abroad, and his collections appeared in shops and were successfully presented in Paris, London and Dusseldorf. He worked closely with soprano Montserrat Caballé, for whom he designed costumes for off stage appearances. He worked with the GNO twice: he directed the opera Lucia di Lammermoor] (1981/82), and directed and designed costumes for Spyros Samaras’ opera Rhea (1999/2000). He died in Athens on 26/12/2002.
