Marianna Rigaki
Soloist, Soprano
She studied piano, music theory and musicology at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. She also studied song technique and interpretation under Sherrill Milnes, Renata Scotto, Roberto Negri, Johanna Peters, etc. She debuted as a soloist in 2001 at Carnegie Hall in New York, in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. In the same year, she became the first Greek artist to be awarded in the category of opera at the 25th anniversary of the International Maria Callas Grand Prix. Since 2004 she is a member of the Association of Scholars of the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation. She worked with the Greek National Opera in the 2007/08 season, when she sang the role of Aladdin’s mother in the opera Aladdin and the Magical Lamp, as well as the title role in the opera Cinderella [La Cenerentola], in an adaptation by Carmen Ruggeri.
