Nikos Spanatis

Soloist, Countertenor
Countertenor, born in Frankfurt. He studied trumpet, advanced music theory and piano and he is a graduate and PhD candidate at the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University. He studied singing with Aris Christofellis, Rosa Poulimenou and Mata Katsuli (diploma with honours and first prize). As a soloist, he has performed in most Greek theatres and has participated in art projects and international festivals in Lahti, Tallinn, San Sebastián, London, Belgium, Venice, Madrid, Amsterdam. He cooperates with the Brussels Virtuosi and the famous flutist Marc Grauwels and has performed with all Greek orchestras. He has performed such roles as Witch (Dido and Aeneas), Pisandro (Ιl ritorno d’Ulisse in patria), Marcellino (Le Martyre de saint Sébastien), Pooh-Bah (The Mikado), Carpoforos and Messenger (Erofili by Mamangakis), Nireno (Giulio Cesare) and Ascanio (Mozart’s Ascanio in Alba), Baba (The Rake’s Progress) and Oberon (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) at the Opera Studio of the Greek National Opera. // Last update: March 2020
