Yorgos Stafetas

Soloist, Tenor
He was born in Athens. He studied classical singing and theater. He teaches classical and art song, as well as opera and speech therapy at the Andreas L. Kordos Conservatory. He participated in the recording of the opera Conroy and his copies [O Konroua kai i kopies tou] (1995). He has published five poetry collections. He collaborated with the GNO in 1966-1999. He joined the GNO Chorus in 1966, and from 1971 to 1999 he appeared in some 63 productions and/or revivals, singing feature and supporting roles in 24 operas and six operettas, including: Madama Butterfly, Tosca, La bohème, Adriana Lecouvreur, The magic flute [Die Zauberflöte], The tales of Hoffman [Les contes d'Hoffmann], Gianni Schicchi, Manon Lescaut, Boris Godunov, Othello [Otello], Don Quixote, The fire [I fotia], Conroy and his copies [O Konroua kai oi kopies tou], The barber of Seville [Il barbiere di Siviglia], The Wise Girl [Die Kluge], Boris Godunov, Falstaff, etc. He sang basic roles in the operettas: The godson [O vaftistikos]. The apaches of Athens [I apachides ton Athinon], House of the three girls [Das Dreimädelhaus], The bat [Die Fledermaus], The merry widow [Die lustige Witwe] and The Land of Smiles [Das Land des Lächelns].
