Nikos Stefanou

He was born in Athens. He studied voice with tenor George Zervanos and opera acting at the “Amphi-Theater” Laboratory of Acting in Theatre and Opera of Spyros Evangelatos. He began his professional career as a singer in Notis Mavroudis’s On the Bank of my Heart [Stin ochthi tis kardias mou] at the Second International Guitar Festival. He has been collaborating with the Greek National Opera since 1995, having participated in more than 30 productions and/or revivals, interpreting leading and supporting tenor roles in operas and operettas, such as: Ferrando (Cosi fan tutte), Mr. Triquet (Eugene Onegin), Count Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Paolino (Il matrimonio segreto), Spalanzani (Les contes d'Hoffmann), Basilio (Le nozze di Figaro), Oronte (Alcina), Pong (Turandot), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Remendado (Carmen), Contino Belfiore (La finta giardiniera), Belmonte (Die entführung aus dem Serail), Harmidis (The Godson), Pavlos (The Cretan Girl), Petros Epitropakis (Remember Those Years!), Shah Rouman (Halima), Alfredo (Die Fledermaus), etc. He has also participated in GNO Children’s opera shows in the role of Bastien (Bastien und Bastienne), etc. His repertoire also includes significant works of religious music, as well as works by Greek composers. He has collaborated with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra in the context of the Cypria International Festival (2011), the OLVIO theater company (2015), the Greek Musical Celebrations of the Athens State Orchestra (2011), the Athens Singers vocal group (2015), etc. // Last update of the biography: December 2015 - The list of productions below is continually updated.
