Nikos Syropoulos
GNO Chorus Member, Bassbaritone
He was born in Athens. He studied singing at the Hellenic Conservatory under some recognized singers. He began studying with tenor Pavlos Raptis and continued with Costas Paschalis, Frangiskos Voutsinos and Giorgos Pappas, and obtained a diploma with honors and first prize. He also studied under Lazaros Tselepidis and Giorgos Zervanos. He has attended seminars and masterclasses by Aris Christofellis and renowned soprano Ghena Dimitrova. As a fellow of Salzburg’s Mozarteum Academy of Music and Performing Art, he studied with baritone Rudolf Knol. As part of his continuous training, he studied in Italy under Mauro Augustini, Gianfranco Cecchele, Gianni Maffeo and Bonaldo Giaiotti. He has worked with the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT), and since 1998 he is a permanent member of the GNO Choir, also appearing in auxiliary roles in operas and operettas, such as: Courtier [Halima], Customs Sergeant [La Bohéme], Assassin and Messenger [Macbeth] , Servant [Parisian life/La vie parisienne], Klapadoras [Carnival Dream/Apokriatiko Oneiro] (GNO Foyer), etc.
