Gianluca Terranova
Soloist, Tenor
Italian tenor, born in Rome, he studied piano and worked as a composer,
performer and arranger in music theatre and television before beginning
his singing career. He attracted international attention when he jumped in
to sing the Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto) at the Arena di Verona in 2008. His
great success led to his current reputation as one of the great interpreters
of the role worldwide. Recent engagements include Rodolfo (La bohème,
Opera Australia, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Torre del Lago Festival,
Atlanta Opera, Opéra royal de Wallonie, New National Theatre of Tokyo,
Seoul), Faust (Mefistofele, Stuttgart, Tokyo), Radamès (Aida, Opéra national de Lorraine), Calaf (Turandot, Atlanda), Don José (Carmen, Atlanta), Pollione (Norma, Essen), the title role of Don Carlo (Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Düsseldorf), Gabriele Adorno (Simon Boccanegra, Genoa, Turin), Alfredo Germont (La traviata, Deutsche Oper Berlin), as well as Pinkerton (Arena di Verona, Dutch National Opera and Dallas Opera).
