Ioanna Tsami

Costume Designer
She was born in Piraeus, Greece. She started her professional career as a fashion (clothes) designer for advertisements and costume designer for modern dance performances. In 2008 she studied costume and set design at the Motley Theater Design School in London. Her debut in costume design for the theatrer was in the play "The National Anthem" by Michael Marmarinos (2002). She has worked with Dimitri Karantzas, John Houvardas, Michael Marmarinos, Akilas Karazisis, Nikos Hatzopoulos, Theodoros Abazis, George Kakanakis, Anna Kokkinou, Efi Theodorou, Aris Retsos, Giannis Kalavrianos, Albrecht Hirche, Barbara Weber, Oscara Korshunova, Alison Chitty, Ioanna Portolou, Apostolia Papadamaki, Sophia Vgenopoulou, Marianna Kalbari, Haris Frangoulis, George Sahinis, Giannis Skourletis, Georgia Mavragani, Natasha Triantafylli, Maria Protopappa and Panagiotis Fafoutis. In 2013 she won the Theater and Music Critics award for her work in the performance Mourning becomes Electra (National Theater, 2012/13). She designed the costumes for GNO’s production of Don Giovanni (Herodeion, Athens Festival, 2014) and she also designed the costumes for the world premiere of Giorgos Koumentakis’ opera The murderess [I fonissa] (Athens Concert Hall, 2014/15).
