She was born in Kavala. She studied piano at the Municipal Conservatory of Kavala under Athanasios Vassiliadis. Along with her studies at the Athens Law School she studied piano, singing and theory at the National Conservatory of Athens. In 1992 she began lessons under Daphne Evangelatou at the University of Music in Munich, graduating with a Master’s degree and distinction. She has been a member of the Opera Studio of the Bavarian State Opera and a prominent member of the National Theater Mannheim. She debuted in Munich as Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) under Sir Colin Davis. She participated as a soloist in the world premiere of the musical theater project Macht Masse Mensch (Power Crowds Man) by Sandeep Bhagwati. She launched an international career at the Bregenz Festival as Mimi (La bohème) opposite tenor Rolando Villazón, a role she also sang in Geneva, Ancona, Luxembourg, Tenerife, Munich, Hamburg, Berlin and at the Puccini Festival in Klagenfurt. She has sung Violetta (La traviata) in Bordeaux, Hanover, Athens and Kassel, the title role in Anna Bolena (Torino), Desdemona (Otello) in Hamburg, the title role in Manon Lescaut (Seville, La Scala Milan), Margarita (Faust) (in Rome, Basel, the Ravenna Festival), Adina (L’elisir d’amore), the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), etc. She has collaborated with conductors such as Riccardo Muti (Mephistopheles/Mefistofele, Verdi’s Requiem), Zubin Mehta (Turandot), Lorin Maazel (Carmen), Gustavo Dudamel, etc. She has recorded/videotaped the operas La clemenza di Tito, La rondine and Dialogues des carmelites.
