He studied at the Juilliard School, New York. He started his career aapearing in American opera houses such as the San Francisco Opera, New York City Opera, Washington Opera, Baltimore Opera, St. Louis Opera Theatre. In Europe he made his debut in Dublin as the Commendatore in Don Giovanni and in Palma de Majorca as Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte. He was a member of the Dresden Opera where he appeared as,Commendatore, Sarastro, Cuno (Der Freischütz) and more. During his long collaboration with the Paris Opera he sang numerous roles, such as Father Trulove (The Rake's Progress), Ratcliffe (Billy Budd), Tom (Un ballo in maschera), Animal tamer and Athlete (Lulu) and more. He has appeared in many major opera houses, such as Bastille Opera, Royal Opera Theatre (Madrid), Bavarian State Opera (Munich), Opéra national du Rhin (Strasbourg), Toulon Operas, Opera de Tours, Toulouse Capitol Theatre, Geneva Grand Theatre, Montpellier Opera, London Royal Opera and more. His repertory also includes leading and supporting roles such as Daland (Der fliegende Holländer), Bonzo (Madama Butterfly), Rocco (Fidelio), King of Egypt (Aida), King Marke (Tristan und Isolde), Don Estoban (Der Zwerg), Cuno (Der Freischütz), Abimélech (Samson et Dalila], as well as roles in operas by Shostakovich, Marriot, Richard Strauss, Dusapin and more.
