Fanis Zachopoulos
Musician, Singer
Born in Athens, he studied classical guitar with Sonia Halari (National Conservatory, diploma and first prize, 2011), advanced music theory with Mattheos Legakis (Zografou Conservatory – G. Politopoulos, harmony degree, 2012), contemporary classical composition with Caroline Ansink (HKU Utrechts Conservatorium, The Netherlands, 2017) and is a final-year student of the Department of Sociology at the Panteion University, Athens. He is engaged in the interpretation and re-creation of Greek folk and traditional music, playing guitar and singing in three music groups (Santa Bella, Antimamalo, Summerisover), appearing with them in venues mainly in Athens. Moreover, he is also a member of the bands Trash Trio, Usurum and Stin akri tou dromou (By the Wayside), as well as of the Oper(O) group. At the same time, he writes music for theatre performances and films in Greece, while his works have been performed in various European countries. In November 2021 he participated in the project A Greek Songbook at the Alternative Stage of the Greek National Opera with his work Tree of Blood.
