Danilo Zeka
Dancer
He was born in Tirana. He studied at the Albanian State Academy of Dance (1992-1996). He was a member of the Albanian State Opera Ballet (1995-1997) and continued his studies at the Grand Theater de Geneve (Switzerland). In 1997 he came to Greece invited by Haris Mantafounis for a three-month collaboration and he stayed permanently. He cooperated with Haris Mantafounis and Sofia Spiratou. In 2009 he danced in Sofia Spiratou’s ballet Electra. He participated in the Greek-German film Recycling Medea, by Asteris Koutoulas (2013). He joined the GNO ballet in 1997, in 2001 became a soloist and in 2008 a principal dancer. He has danced in: Swan Lake (Zanella/Tchaikovsky) (Siegfried), Canto General (Barra/Theodorakis) (Love),Eugene Onegin (Mukhamedov/Tchaikovsky) (Lenski), The Wayward Daughter [La fille mal gardée] (Ashton)(Kolas), Giselle (Mukhamedov/Adam) (Albreht), Zorba (Massin/Theodorakis) (The stranger) as well as in the ballets The Snow Queen (Barra/Glazounov), Four last songs [Vier letzte Lieder] (Dantzig/Richard Strauss), The pirate [Le Corsaire] etc. He also participates in opera entr’ acts in operas such as Marathon-Salamis (2004-05). He has worked with Irek Mukhamedov, Lynn Seymour, Vladimir Vasiliev, Lorca Massine, Ray Barra, Alexander Grant and Renato Zanella. The latter designed roles for him for the productions of Bolero, Everyone Waltz! [Alles Walzer!], Romeo and Juliet, The Journey and Medea (music by Mikis Theodorakis, Festival of the Aegean 2010, Syros). He has appeared in numerous international gala performances and more recently in Meet the Stars at Herodeion (2012).
