He was born in Romania. He made his debut at the Municipal Theater of Salzburg [Landestheater Salzburg] as Nemorino [The elixir of love/L'elisir d'amore]. Subsequently, he appeared at the Hesse State Theater in Wiesbaden [Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden] as Lord Riccardo Percy [Anna Bolena], at the Opera House in Dortmund as Duca di Mantova [Rigoletto], at the People's Opera [Volksoper] in Vienna as Faust [Faust] and at the New Israeli Opera, in the world premiere of the opera Journey to the End of Millenium. His 1997 performance at the Festival della Valle d'Itria (Festival Martina Franca) as Edgardo [Lucia di Lammermoor] brought him to the attention of a wider public, and his interpretation of the role of Arturo Talbo [The Puritans/I Puritani] at the Washington Opera, following an invitation by Placido Domingo, thrust him into the spotlight of the world of music. He has performed at major opera houses world-wide: the German Opera in Berlin [Deutsche Oper Berlin], the Teatro Regio in Turin, the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, the Grand Theater of Geneva [Grand Théâtre de Genève], the Royal Opera [Kungliga Operan] in Stockholm, the State Opera in Sofia, and the National Opera in Bucharest. He has performed in various international opera festivals. His repertoire also includes the following roles: Hoffman [The Tales of Hoffman/Les contes d'Hoffmann], Orpheus [Orpheus in the Underworld/Orphée aux Enfers], Rodolfo [La bohème], Alfredo Germont [La traviata], Pinkerton [Madama Butterfly], Singer [The Knight of the Rose/Der Rosenkavalier] and Lensky [Eugene Onegin]. At the GNO, he has made one appearence, as Hoffman [Les contes d'Hoffmann] in 1998.
