German soprano, she is noted for her exciting portrayals of some of opera’s most complex leading ladies. She also has a strong association with Richard Strauss’ repertory including roles such as Salome, Chrysothemis (Elektra) and Ariadne (Ariadne auf Na xos). Last season she gave an acclaimed portrayal as Marie (Wozzeck) for her debut at Opéra national de Paris. Boasting an impressively diverse repertory, she has appeared as Jenůfa (Komische Oper Berlin), Marie and Katerina Izmailova (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Zürich Opera), Regan (Aribert Reimann’s Lear, Salzburg Festival under Franz Welser-Möst), Elena (world premiere of Mauricio Sotelo’s El Público, Teatro Real in Madrid), Sieglinde (Die Walküre), Ellen Orford (Peter Grimes, Vienna State Opera), Bianca (Eine florentinische Tragödie, Canadian Opera Company), and Chrysothemis with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Andris Nelsons. // Last update: October 2017
