He was born in 1931 in Paris. In 1950 he entered the Académie Nationale de Musique in Paris to study classical dance and three years later he became an actor of the Compagnie Renaud-Barrault, where he supervised choreography. In 1956 he started working as an actor of the Théâtre National Populaire (People’s National Theater) in Villeurbanne alongside the pioneer playwright, director and filmmaker Roger Planchon. In 1968 Batisse began collaborating with Théâtre de l'Odéon. In the years 1969-1976 he worked in France as an actor in numerous tv series and films, and then went into directing operas in french opera houses. During 1976-1980 he directed, among other things, Ariadne auf Naxos, Tosca, Don Giovanni, Le nozze di Figaro, Rigoletto, Béatrice et Bénédict. He also directed Ariadne auf Naxos, Les mamelles de Tirésias and La voix humaine in Palermo, and Faust in Seoul. Batisse has participated in various recordings of french operetta works interpreting prose style roles: La Périchole, Les saltibanques (Louis Ganne), La vie parisienne, Orphée aux Enfers e.t.c. His first cooperation with the Greek National Opera was in the 1979-1980 season, directing as part of a double production Ravel’s operas L'enfant et les sortilèges and L'heure espagnole. // Last update of the biography: March 2020 - The list of the productions below is continually updated.
