She was born in Romania. She studied music at the Academy of Music in Bucharest and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. She started her career with apperances at the State Opera and the National Theater of Prague, where she still appears to this date. There, she has interpreted the roles of Abigaille (Nabucco), Amelia (Un ballo di maschera), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Desdemona (Otello), Elisabetta di Valois (Don Carlo), Giorgetta (Il tabarro), Leonora (Il trovatore), Lisa (The Queen of Spades), Minnie (La fanciulla del West), as well as the eponymous roles in Tosca and Jenůfa. She has also sung at the State Opera in Vienna, at Staatsoper Berlin, at the German Opera in Berlin, at the Leipzig Opera, at the Frankfurt Opera, at the Verona Arena, at the Bavarian State Opera, at the Festival Maggio Musicale in Florence, at Salzburg Festival, at the New Israeli Opera and at the Hamburg State Opera. In 2005, she debuted at the National Opera in Paris, where she interpreted the eponymous role in Dvořak's opera Rusalka. She has also appeared at major opera houses in the USA and Japan. She won the First Prize and the People's Choice Prize at the Vienna International Song Contest (1994), and she has been honored with the Thalia Award in the Czech Republic. She has recorded the role of Rosina in Pavel Haas' opera The Charlatan (Scharlatan), of Leonora in Il trovatore, as well as Italian arias. // Last update of the biography: June 2016 - The list of the productions below is complete.
