Jennifer Borghi

Soloist, Mezzo-Soprano
She was born in the USA and began her vocal studies at Princeton University. She was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Mannheim, with particular emphasis on the German “lied” tradition in the interpretation classes of Ulrich Eisenlohr and Heike-Dorothee Allardt. Jennifer Borghi received private instruction from Grace Bumbry, Jane Rhodes, Jard van Nes, and Charles Spencer and participated in the master classes of Christophe Rousset in the interpretation of Monteverdi, Handel, and Rameau. Finalist and prize-winner in numerous international competitions, including the Maria Callas Grand Prix (Athens), the Capri Opera Competition, the Hilde Zadek International Voice Competition, the International Voice Competition Hans Gabor Belvedere (Vienna), and the Francesco Provenzale International Baroque Singing Competition (Naples). Borghi has sung at opera houses in Vienna, at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, the Opéra Royal de Versailles, the Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne, the Opéra Royal de Wallonie (Liège), the Oper Heidelberg and the Teatro Grande di Brescia. She has also sung at the Festival de Radio France, de Berlioz, de Como, the Capri Opera Festival and Amsterdam’s Grachtenfestival. Since 2010, Borghi has been engaged in the rediscovery and promotion of neglected works of the French Romantic period through collaboration with the Palazzetto Bru-Zane – Centre de Musique Romantique Française of Venice. Her recordings include mainly French works from the 18th century, numerous of which were world premieres.
