
Paolo Carignani
Conductor
He was born in Milan, where he graduated from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in composition, organ and piano. He later studied conducting with renowned Italian conductor, Alceo Galliera. He has conducted in prestigious international venues including the Vienna State Opera, Berlin State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bavarian State Opera, San Francisco War Memorial, ΜΕΤ (New York), Gran Teatre de Liceu (Barcelona), Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, ROH (London), Opéra Bastille (Paris), Oslo, Brussels, Antwerp, Glyndebourne, Spoleto. His symphonic repertoire has led him to work with prestigious orchestras worldwide. From 1999 to 2008 he held the position as Music Director at the Frankfurt Opera and Director of the Frankfurt Opera House and Museum’s Orchestra. He has conducted worldwide several opera premieres of the Italian repertoire, from Mozart to bel canto, till Verdi and the verismo, with new creations and first modern performances of rare operas and has recorded on CD and DVD for the major labels.
