Nikos A. Dontas

Music critic
Graduate of the German School of Athens, he holds a Ph.D. in Musicology (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens). Since 1988 he has been a collaborator of the Athens daily newspaper Kathimerini and since 2006 he has been also Head of the Dramaturgy Department of the Greek National Opera (GNO). He is the author and editor-in-chief of a volume dedicated to the 80 years of the GNO and has contributed to the German Dictionary Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart (MGG). He wrote extensively for the publishing departments of the Athens and Thessaloniki Concert Halls, the Athens Festival, the GNO etc. He produced broadcasts on classical music for the Greek National Radio as well as for private radio stations. He holds an M.Sc. in Advanced Architectural Studies (UCL 1986) and has worked on the extension of the Byzantine and Christian Museum of Athens. He has also been Supervisor of Computer Aided Design and Visuals at the Foundation at the Hellenic World and is the author and Academic editor of a volume on the Ionian city of Priene (FHW 2001 / Harvard University Press 2005). // Last update of the biography: March 2020
