Eric Duranteau
Video Projection Designer
He studied Fine Arts in France and America. Since 1990, he has developed a particular interest in the technique of image projection in supershows, such as Révélation de Notre-Dame in Poitiers (projections on the cathedral), Trophée Lalique (projections on ice), Son et Lumière at Versailles (projections on water) and the World Fair in Lisbon (projections on spheres). Since 1998, he has designed video projection techniques for numerous productions of the director Yannis Kokkos in the most important theaters of the world, such as La Scala in Milan (Hänsel und Gretel, The Twilight of the Gods/Götterdämmerung, Iphigenia in Avlida/Iphigénie en Aulide), the Châtelet Theater in Paris (The flying Dutchman/Der fliegende Holländer, Trojans/Les Troyens), the May Music Festival in Florence (The Woman without a Shadow/Die Frau ohne Schatten) and the Mariinsky Theater (Don Quixote/Don Quichotte). Each production expands his effort to blend the limits between the projected images, the theatrical lighting and stage design. In 2000 he began a research programme with dancers on modified environments and experiences with weightlessness in parabolic flight (Moscow, Bordeaux). He also designed the video projections for the works Entr'apercu by Bartabas, Rusalka directed by Robert Carsen (Paris) and for the choreography routines of Carolyn Carlson. In 2006 he was in residence at Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto (Japan). At the GNO has created video projections for the productions directed by Yiannis Kokkos, such as The flying Dutchman (Herodeion, 2013), Otello (Herodeion, 2014) and Tristan und Isolde (Athens Concert Hall, 2014-15). // Last update of the biograpgy: November 2015
