Petros Gallias
Dancer
He was born in Corfu in 1968. He began studying music and dance in his homeland. During the three years 1982-85 he choreographed for the Corfu Experimental Ballet and participated in many European meetings and festivals of young and teenage creators, with the parallel capacity of composer and dancer, achieving distinctions such as the Award for Best Young Performer (Bulgaria, 1982), first prize of Composition and Presentation of a project (Syros 1983), Award for Original Project Concept and first performer prize (Norway 1984/ Vatican 1984/ Paris 1985). He attended dance lessons at the Greek National School of Dance and seminars in Greece and abroad (1986-1990). In 1993 he graduated from the School of Drama of the National Theatre of Greece and held a leading role in the movie 'End of an Era' by Antonis Kokkinos. He collaborated a lot with the 'Free theatre' (1991-2004), as well as with the Athens Concert Hall, the Athens Festival, the National Theatre of Greece, the Municipal Theatres of Corfu and Roumeli etc. He choreographed 72 plays, 34 operas, 27 ballets, 4 mixed shows etc. He collaborated with famous directors, vocal soloists, composers. He taught body expression at the Ballet Association of the Athens College(1997-2001), the Actors' Workshop of the National Theatre of Greece (1999-2001), as well as at seminars. He founded the Ballet Iros Aggelos for which he choreographed many ballets(1993-2004). He is member of the Greek department of the International Dance Council CID of UNESCO and founding member of the Greek Choreographers' Union. He is permanent collaborator of Carmen Rouggeri. With the Greek National Opera he collaborated during the period 1997-2010 in the productions Τhe damned snake, Nabucco, Don Giovanni and Rigoletto. He also choreographed the co-production of the opera The servant turned mistress[La serva padrona] (2006-07, co-production Greek National Opera and Athens Chamber Opera). // Last update of the biography: December 2021 - The list of the productions below is continually updated.
