Ignacio García

Director
He was born in Spain. He studied stage direction at the Royal School of Theater in Madrid. From 2004 to 2009, he was artistic director at Teatro Español of Madrid. In 2003, he won the José Luis Alonso Award for young directors. He also won a prize at the contest of Teatro Real in Madrid for his staging of Britten's opera The Little Sweep. He has been awarded the Theater Critics Association of Mexico Award. He has worked at numerous international festivals and theaters, both lyric and prose ones: Teatro Real, Teatro Español and Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Teatro Pergolesi in Jesi, Sadler's Wells Theater in London. He has also collaborated with theaters in Bilbao, Toledo, Oviedo, Granada. La Coruña, Lausanne, Bremen and Liverpool. He has directed, among others, the following operas: Dido and Aeneas; Oberto, Conte di San Bonifacio; Poliuto; Emilia di Liverpool; La scala di seta. In theater, he has worked, among others, with directors Mario Gas, Juan Carlos Pérez de la Fuente, Ernesto Caballero, Gonzalo Suarez, Juan Antonio Hormigón, José Luis Alonso and José Sanchís Sinisterra.
