Soloist, Mezzo-Soprano
She was born in Washington (USA) on 7/3/1964. She studied singing at the Oberlin Conservatoty of Music and at the New England Conservatory, with Helen Hodam. Later she studied at the Houston Opera Studio with Elena Nikolaidi (1988/90). In 1995 she began her professional career at the New York Metropolitan Opera. She has worked with orchestras and distinguished conductors at internationally important lyrical theatres such as: Vienna State Opera, London Royal Opera, Paris Opera, San Francisco Opera, Chicago Opera, Dallas Opera, National Opera of Washington, Houston Grand Opera, Madrid Royal Theatre. She also gives recitals with German and French songs,musicals, jazz and spiritual. She has participated in television and radio programmes. She was distinguished for her performances as Carmen and Dalila (Samson and Dalila). Her repertoire also includes roles such as Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte), Adalgisa (Norma), Azucena (Il trovatore),Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Nicklausse (Les contes de Hoffmann), Charlotte (Werther), Judith (Bluebeard's Castle / A kékszakállú herceg vára), Antigone (Antigone by Honegger) and Jokasta (Oedipus Rex). In her discography recordings from the operas La Vestale (Chief Vestal Virgin, directed by Muti), Hamlet (Gertrude, directed by António de Almeida), Rigoletto (Maddalena, directed by Levine) and Otello with Placido Domingo (Emilia, directed by Chung). She has been awarded in contests and has been honoured by organizations. She has received honorary doctorate degrees by Oberlin College, College of Saint Mary and Centre College.
