Russian mezzo-soprano, she performs regularly the great roles of the Verdi and Wagner repertoire on the most important stages worldwide such as the MET, La Scala (Milan), Vienna State Opera, Royal Opera House (Covent Garden, London), Bavarian State Opera and Teatro Real (Madrid) and appears at renown festivals like Chorégies d’Orange, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Baden-Baden and Bayreuth. Her repertoire includes roles such as Fricka (Das Rheingold and Die Walküre), Venus (Tannhäuser), Princess of Eboli (Don Carlo), Amneris (Aida), Brangäne (Tristan und Isolde), Jocasta (Oedipus Rex) and Judith (Bluebeard’s Castle). Gubanova is also an established concert singer as she has performed Verdi’s Requiem, Mahler’s Das Lied von der Εrde and Des Knaben Wunderhorn, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Mahler’s 2nd and 3rd Symphony.
