Soloist, Soprano
She was born in Holguín province, Cuba. She studied at the Cuban University of Arts, as well as in Miami under Manny Perez and at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia (USΑ), from where she graduated in 2004. She continued to study under William Schuman. She debuted in Europe in 2005 in the title role of Donizetti’s Maria di Rohan at the Wexford Festival Opera (Ireland). In 2009, she made her Royal Opera House London (Covent Garden) debut in the title role in Donizetti’s Linda di Chamounix , appearing there again in 2011 as Amina [The Sleepwalker/La sonnambula]. She has collaborated with acclaimed directors and conductors at major opera houses internationally, such as Carnegie Hall New York, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro Colón Buenos Aires, Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie Brussels, as well as at the operas of Florida, Detroit, Seattle, Vancouver, Santa Fe, Cagliari, Trieste, Zurich, Tel Aviv, and the festivals of Aspen, Savonlinna (Finland), Wexford, Santa Fe and elsewhere. Her repertoire includes roles such as Gilda (Rigoletto), Amina (La sonnambula), Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Violetta Valéry (La traviata), Liù (Turandot), Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor) and Lakmé. In the GNO she sang Elvira in the premiere of Bellini’s I puritani (Athens Concert Hall, 2008/09). She has been a three-time scholar of the Gerda Lissner Foundation, while she has been awarded numerous times in international singing contests (Montserrat Caballé Competition, Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation, Loren L.
