Soloist, Bass-baritone
He was born in Belgrade on 19/01/1960. Initially he studied at the Academy of Music in Belgrade and graduated with diplomas in violin (1984) and singing (1988). He pursued further vocal studies at the Conservatory “Giuseppe Verdi” of Milan (1988-89) and he took private lessons under the baritone N. Carta and the bass E. Fissore in Milan and Piacenza (1989-93). He completed his postgraduate studies at the Academy of Music in Belgrade under the famous Serbian soprano Radmila Bakočević, graduating with a Master’s degree with honors. Meanwhile, he taught violin and chamber music in Belgrade (1984-1987) and played violin in chamber music ensembles and opera orchestras in Italy (1986-1992). In 1990 he started a career as a soloist at the Belgrade Opera and later on, he became its leading baritone. Ever since he performs major baritone roles in opera houses of Europe (Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Romania, Slovenia, Yugoslavia, FYROM) and the USA. In 1993 he was awarded at the competition “Puccini e il suo tempo” [Puccini and his times] (Milan) and at the international competition “Flaviano Labò” (Piacenza). Since 2002 he works as a freelance soloist. During the period 2006-07 he was artistic director of the Opera of Belgrade. In 2007 he was awarded for his performances in the operas Les contes d'Hoffmann and Pagliacci, and in 2009 for his performances in the operas Don Carlo and The Power of Fate [La forza del destino]. He has also worked as a violinist with symphony orchestras and opera houses and has made recordings for the Serbian TV.
