Linda Kapetanea

Dancer, Choreographer
She was born in Athens and until the age of ten she did gymnastics. She began dance training at the age of 16. On a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation, she studied at the Merce Cunnigham Trust with the Center for Movement Research and the Dance Space Center, New York. She studied under Jeremy Nelson and Irene Hultman, with whom she later collaborated. In New York she also associated with Wally Cardona, Trisha Brown and Pina Bausch. She met her husband, Jozef Fruček, in 2002 when she joined Wim Vandekeybus’ company Ultima Vez; with that company, she participated in dance performances and motion pictures. She moved to Greece with her husband and their newborn child in 2006, and founded the dance company Rootless Root (Riza choris-riza). She collaborated with various dance companies in Greece. At the same time, along with Jozef Fruček, they participated in performances and festivals in Europe and America [Brussels, Salzburg, Reims, Poznań (Poland), Stockholm, Barcelona, Bratislava, Budapest, Prague, Turin, Venice, Montreal, Toronto]. In 2002 she was awarded the Prize for Best Performance by the Greek Ministry of Culture. In latest years she has been invited to teach both in Greece and abroad. He was a member of the Greek National School of Dance teaching staff (2006-12). She worked with the GNO once, participating in the ballet insert in George Kouroupos’ opera The escapees of the checkerboard [Oi drapetes tis skakieras] (1998/1999).
