Nikos Karagiaouris
Soloist, Baritone
He was born in Patras. He studied violin and piano at the Municipal Conservatory of Patra, as well as monody at the Athens Conservatory, obtaining a diploma under Hara Savino. He attended masterclasses under Kostas Paskalis, Birgit Nickl, Aris Christofellis, Daphne Evangelatou, Dimitri Kavrakos and Lambrini Batziou, as well as seminars on acting under Sofia Kakarelidou. He won prizes in singing competitions in Athens and Thessaloniki (2004, 2006, 2010), and won the Athina Karra scholarship from the Greek Wagner Association to participate in the Bayreuth fellowship program (2012). His repertory includes major roles in operas such as Die Zauberflöte, Die fledermaus, Carmen, Die sieben Todsünden, L'elisir d'amore, Gianni Schicchi, La bohème, etc., as well as in religious music works by Handel, Rossini, Bach and Fore. He is a singer of the national Russian music school and of the Greek operetta, and is a regular member with the Polyphonic Male Choir of the church of St. George Karytsis, Athens. He has sang in the musical “Oi Daimones” [Demons], next to Anna Vissi (2013). Among others, he has appeared as Konstantis and Magistrate in the world premiere of George Koumendakis’s opera The Murderess (Athens Concert Hall, 2014/15), as Sergeant (La bohème), Marquis d’Obigny (La traviata), Zuniga and Dancaire (Carmen, Suitcase Opera) and Dr. Bartolo (Il barbiere di Siviglia, educational program for schools). // Last update of the biography: December 2015 - The list of productions below is continually updated.
