
Dimitris Kassioumis

He was born in Athens. He studied violin and monody at the National Conservatory of Thessaloniki and he continued his monody lessons at the National Conservatory of Athens under John Modinos. He is also a graduate of the School of Surveying Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In 1987 he won the “Maria Callas” scholarship and in 1991 continued his studies at the Vienna Music University under Curt Malm, Eleni Caruso, etc. He has been a guest attendee in seminars delivered by Kostas Paskalis, Luigi Alva, etc. In 1987 he sang the part of Doctor in the opera Macbeth at the Athens Concert Hall. He has participated in productions in Greece and abroad. In July 1992 he appeared as Dancaire (Carmen) at the Vienna Festival and until 1997 appeared at Austrian scenes, performing a varied repertoire of opera and church music. In addition, he appeared in Vienna until 1998, mainly at the New Opera. His repertory includes leading and supporting roles, in such works as: Don Pasquale, Der fliegende Holländer, Il barbiere di Siviglia, L’elisir d’amore, Don Giovanni, La Cenerentola, Così fan tutte, La bohème, Werther, Fidelio, Gianni Schicchi, Aida, Nabucco. He has been a Greek National Opera member from 2000 till 2021. Since 1998 he has sung in such GNO productions as Cesare Angelotti (Tosca), Krespel (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Prince Prospero (The Masque of the Red Death), Don Bartolo (Le nozze di Figaro), Ferrando (Il trovatore), Joe (Aufstieg und fall der stadt Mahagonny), Oroveso (Norma), Don Magnifico (La Cenerendola), Count Horn (Un ballo in maschera), Vodník, the water goblin (Rusalka), etc. // Last update of the biography: December 2015 - The list of productions below is continually updated.
