He was born in the USA and is of Greek descent. He is considered an ideal interpreter of Verdian roles. He has performed in opera houses worldwide. In 2002 he made his debut in the New York City Opera as Scarpia (Tosca). His repertoire includes the roles: Scarpia (English National Opera, New York City Opera), Michele (Il tabarro, Vlaamse  Opera, Antwerp), Enrico ([Lucia di Lammermoor), Falstaff (Falstaff, Frankfurt Opera House), Giorgio Germont (La traviata, Montreal Opera), Blitz (Susannah by Carlisle Floyd, Festival of Oxford), Leonidas (Lysistrata by Mark Adamo, New York City Opera), Rigoletto (Rigoletto, Opera of Seattle-Macao International Festival in China), Jack Rance (La fanciula del West, (New York City Opera, Montreal Opera, Concertgebouw - Amsterdam), Iago (Otello), Nabucco (Nabuccο, Pacific Opera Victoria), et al. He has performed in more than 300 recitals in USA, Canada, Europe and New Zealand. He is also a pianist and a composer.
