Serge Keuten

Dancer, Choreographer, Director
He was born in France in 1947. From 1967 to 1972 he collaborated with the Paris Opera Ballet as a dancer and choreographer. He was the choreographer of the Association des jeunes artistes chorégraphique/AJAC, founder of the Atelier chorégraphique - Serge Keuten au Carré Silvia Monfort and of the École de danse Arts et proximité (1995). He was honored with the title of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres. During the decade from 1970 to 1980 he was closely associated with Greece. He collaborated with the Experimental Ballet of Athens by Yannis Metsis, where he staged his ballets Sappho, with music by Charles Chaynes, and The Praise of Love [To Egomio tou Erota], with music by José Berghmans (1981). He has also participated in Greek ballet performances by Rallou Manou (Herodeon, 1980) and has choreographed the entire ballet The Mystagogy of Love/Tantra, with music by Jacques Charpantier. He presented his own band in performances at the Municipal Theatre of Piraeus, as part of the events “Ekfrasis” by the Greek Ministry of Culture. For GNO he choreographed the compositions Aroura and Antikhton, with music by Xenakis (1976-1977 at the Herodeon, 1977-1978), the ballet Electra with music by Mikis Theodorakis (1979-1980), the anti-war ballet Chariot of Fire, with music by Vangelis Papathanassiou (1983-84, 1984-85, 1987-88), and the ballet Persephone with music by Igor Stravinsky, which was, however, not presented (1982).
